Gardening is great for so many reasons, but primarilly it is a relaxing way to produce healthy foods for home consumption. There are many types of gardening, flower gardens are popular for the beauty they provide, some people specialize in particular kinds of plants, perennials, annuals or biennials. There is also the backyard vegetable garden that provides produce including tomatoes, potatoes, carrots and more, not just for the season but even preserved to supply homegrown food for the entire winter. Many of these types of gardens are organic, because they are small enough to recieve the personal, loving attention of the gardener.
For those with very limited space container gardening is a great way to commit to gardening. With plants growing in containers, it is easy to move plants about and to acommodate different environments. Containers can also be brought inside the house in winter.
